Treatments
Treatment for Benign Prostate Hyperplasia
An open mind about prostate disorders and early treatment can curb the development of the disease and prevent uncomfortable symptoms. Prostate disorders can be treated with medication or surgery.Proposed Medication
Inhibition of 5-alpha-reductase
Finasterides and dutasterides, active synthetic substances, serve to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase in the male body. This reduces the conversion of testosterone (a male hormone) into dihydrotestosterone (its active form) and slows down the proliferation of prostatic tissue.Loss of libido and erectile dysfunction are some of the side effects of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. Finasterides and dutasterides must be prescribed by a physician.
Selective alpha-blockers
Alpha-blockers reduce muscle tension, causing the muscles of the bladder, prostate and urethra to relax. This treatment does not reduce prostatic volume, but it does facilitate the passing of urine. The side effects of this medication include ejaculatory dysfunction or cardiovascular disorders. Selective alpha blockers must be prescribed by a physician.Surgery
Surgery is necessary when the response to treatment is insignificant or if prostatic hyperplasia is too advanced.
The following procedures are available:
Transurethral prostatectomy (TURP)
TURP is commonly referred to as “minor prostate surgery.” This is the most common procedure used in benign hyperplasia. The procedure consists of removing prostatic tissue one layer at a time using a high-frequency current or a laser which passes through the urethra.Open prostatectomy
Open prostatectomy is commonly referred to as “major prostate surgery.” This procedure is recommended for very large prostates in which passing through the urethra is no longer possible. This surgery requires an abdominal incision.Transurethral thermotherapy
Transurethral thermotherapy uses microwave energy to reach the prostate through a catheter inserted in the urethra. The prostatic tissue located along the catheter is destroyed at approximately 80°C.Proposed Natural Medication
Saw Palmetto extract
Saw Palmetto fruit extracts are being used more and more to treat prostate disorders. Saw Palmetto acts as a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor and slows down the proliferation of prostatic tissue.Treatment with Saw Palmetto extracts does not cause side effects, such as loss of libido or erectile dysfunction. Preparations of Saw Palmetto extract are therefore considered an important form of drug treatment for mild to moderate prostate disorders.
If symptoms do not improve after 4 to 6 weeks of treatment with products containing Saw Palmetto extract, consult your physician.

Sabalasan Prostate 1: FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Sabalasan Prostate 1 be taken with other medicines used as treatment for BPH?
If you are taking medication for BPH, talk to your health care practitioner before using Sabalasan Prostate 1 as it may not be suitable for you.
Why is it in a gelatine capsule?
We extract the oil from Saw Palmetto berries using a process that keeps the oil in a semi-liquid form. Because of this, a vegetarian capsule would not be suitable.
Should I have a diagnosis of BPH confirmed by my health care practitioner before starting treatment with Sabalasan Prostate 1?
Symptoms of BPH should always be checked by a health care practitioner to ensure that the problem is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and not something more serious.
Can I take it long term?
Sabalasan Prostate 1 is suitable for long-term use. However if your symptoms worsen or are accompanied by fever or blood in the urine, you should seek medical advice.
